A church devoted to Jesus, bringing his hope and freedom everywhere, everyday. 

Our journey began in 2005 with a small band of friends inspired by the vision of seeing God establishing “a church founded on grace, in a city built on the law”. The speaker of these words who was at a Newfrontiers Scotland Day was unaware of the prominent hill within Dundee named "The Law" dominating its geography. God was confirming in our hearts that He was the author of the dreams and desires we were beginning to formulate together about what he wanted to do in and through us as a community. 

God continues to lead our adventure together. We are discovering ever more of His extraordinary heart for us and our city. We are learning to grow in courage, compassion and generosity as we pursue the dreams he has placed in our hearts to bring life to every area of our community. 

Church on the move

On Sunday 8th January 2006, we held our first service in The Verdant Works Museum. The sermon, centred around Zechariah 8, was about a church full of peace and joy filled with both young and old alike.

In those early years, we gathered together on Sundays in a number of different locations. In January 2007, we began to meet in the Abertay Students’ Union. From October 2009 to January 2012 we met in the (now demolished) Hilton Hotel, and occasionally in Discovery Point. From June 2010 we were given accommodation above Dundee Railway Station to use as church offices and mid-week meeting rooms.

St Francis' Friary

In January 2012 we bought the St Francis Friary from the Franciscan Friars. The Friary had lain unoccupied for 18 months and the Friars, anxious to preserve the facilities as a centre of Christian life and worship, facilitated the sale of the site to City Church in January 2012.

Gifted with such wonderful facilities, we are working to modernise and refurbish the Friary and establish it as a thriving church and community hub which serves both the local community and wider Dundee. God's weekly reminder to us

The view rising from the entrance foyer of the Friary auditorium is of the The Law. This view is a continual reminder of the initial vision given to the church. We are reminded weekly that God has unique and wonderful plans for us and that He is the one whose plans for us are far and beyond what we could think or imagine.
